Council Member Carolyn Zinner

Carolyn Zinner was appointed and confirmed to the City Council on Monday November 5, 2018 to complete the term vacated by Monica Worrell.

Carolyn and her husband Pete a former photojournalist, moved to Perryville in 1993 as “weekenders” from Kennett Square, and ended up moving to the area permanently in 1996 and then on to Havre de Grace in 2008, enjoying the sights, sounds, and beauty of “our charming City by the Bay.”

Carolyn began her career in Laboratory Medicine with a focus on Clinical Microbiology and eventually supervised her department in a large suburban hospital outside of Philadelphia. During that time, she was introduced to the beginning of what is now the patient electronic medical record or EMR. This experience led her to apply for a position in the Hospital Information System (HIS) field and thus began a new chapter combining her on hands healthcare experience with solutions that would enhance patient safety while easing documentation obstacles for providers.

After more than 25 years as a Project Manager implementing hospital information systems in both private and public sectors, Carolyn retired from Christiana Care Health System. Carolyn holds degrees in Medical Technology from Hahnemann University School of Allied Health Professions and Health Care Administration from Widener University.

As a member of Soroptimist International Havre de Grace Club, Carolyn is assigned to the Scholarship Committee, which each year awards academic, general, art, and photography scholarships to local high school girls to pursue higher education.

“As a new Council member, I look forward to listening and learning more each day about city government in order to better serve the citizens of Havre de Grace with honesty and integrity.”
