September 11, 2017 the Havre de Grace Project Committee for the Gold Star Family Memorial Monument held a ground-breaking ceremony at Concord Point Park.
The Gold Star Families Memorial Monument will honor Gold Star Families, preserve the memory of the fallen, and stand as a stark reminder that freedom is not free. The monument will be located at Concord Point near the lighthouse entrance to the promenade. When completed it will be the first of its kind in Harford County.

Police Department: 

Do not drink and drive on this long holiday weekend. Officers will be aggressively looking for impaired driver.
School starts on Tuesday, please make sure you are looking for pedestrians in the cross walks.
With fall sports beginning, please follow parking rules at Harris Stadium and do not park on yellow curbs. You will be ticketed.

 
DPW – Division of Stormwater Management:

Reminder: Keep your stormdrains clear of leaves, grass, trash and tree debris at all times to minimize flooding in the streets and on your property.

 

The average automobile can be swept off the road in 12 inches of moving water, and roads covered by water are prone to collapse. Attempting to drive through water also may stall your engine, with the potential to cause irreparable damage if you try to restart the engine. If you come upon a flooded street, take an alternate route.

 

If anyone notices someone dumping into a stormdrain please notify City Hall at 410-939-1800, ext. 1128. Anything going into the drains except for stormwater is illicit.

The Havre de Grace Office of Tourism announced today the 3rd annual Havre de Grace Oktoberfest will be held Saturday, October 14, 2017 from 12-7 p.m. at Hutchins Park
This year’s event will feature authentic German food, beer, wine, and desserts. German music will be performed by Enzian Volkstanzgruppe, and accordion player Don Bitterlich. German merchandise and craft vendors will also be set up at the event, as well as a kid zone and moon bounce.

What can and what cannot be collected as Yard Waste?

Maryland Environmental Services has posted the following list of what can and what cannot be collected as Yard Waste.

Items that cannot be collected as Yard Waste include: root balls, dirt attached to flowers, weeds, etc – dirt or soil of any kind, mulch, rocks, bamboo, noctious weeds (such as poison ivy) diseased or infested plant materials or tree stumps. Any of these items placed in yard waste collections will be rejected at the landfill so our contractor cannot collect them from you.
