The Mayor and City Council will conduct Public Budget Work Sessions in the City Council Chambers, 711 Pennington Avenue, at 6:00 p.m. on March 27, 2017 and April 10, 2017. The purpose of this session is to allow for interaction between the Council and Administration to review the proposed budget for fiscal year beginning July 1, 2017 through June 30, 2018.

March 16, 2017 Mayor Martin toured Havre de Grace Middle School with Comptroller Franchot, County Executive Barry Glassman and other government and school officials. Everyone in the room had a very positive conversation about the importance of building a new middle and high school in Havre de Grace. Mayor Martin encouraged Comptroller Franchot and everyone to continue advocating for our students and stressed the urgency of this project.

TODAY CHARTER AMENDMENT 279 AND 280 GO INTO EFFECT SUBJECTING THE SALARY OF CITY ELECTED OFFICIALS TO THE APPROVAL OF CITY VOTERS.
Today, Charter Amendment 279 and 280 went into effect. The set of charter amendments mandate that the salary of City Elected Officials shall be subjected to the approval of city voters. Until now, the process of setting elected officials pay was done by council vote. Charter Amendment 279 and 280 were unanimously passed by the city council on January 17, 2017.
