Dunlop Protective Footwear has announced their plan to invest millions of dollars into their Havre de Grace manufacturing facility. Mayor Martin signs Charter Resolution 281 into law. 
This week Mayor Martin signed into law Charter Resolution 281. Charter Resolution 281 updates the Budget process in the City Charter to incorporate the best practices learned over the last decade. Primarily it segregates the budget into 3 formal areas; personnel costs, non-personnel operating costs, and capital projects. Charter Resolution 281 also restricts Department Directors from transferring funds between these 3 key elements without City Council approval. The Passing of our friend Richard Holly

We are saddened to hear the news of the passing our friend Richard Holly. Rich was a leader in our community who made us laugh, smile and most importantly challenged us as students and citizens. For 45 years, Rich taught business at Havre de Grace High School. When Rich was not teaching he was busy participating in numerous volunteer organizations, including Community Projects of Havre de Grace, the Winter Wonderland Committee, the Citizens Against Trash Club, and volunteering to serve Thanksgiving dinner to those in need. TYDINGS PARK UPGRADE AND IMPROVEMENT PROJECT ON TRACK FOR THE SPRING SEASON – MODERN PLAYGROUND EQUIPMENT INSTALLED.
Today The City of Havre de Grace announced that the Tydings Park Upgrade and Improvement Project has reached a new milestone with the installation of new playground equipment.
On Thursday February 23, 2017, a REV 8 Rotating Climber and interactive stations were added to the park. The Mayor and City Council of Havre de Grace will hold a Public Hearing in the City Council Chambers, 711 Pennington Avenue, Havre de Grace, MD on
March 6, 2017 beginning at 7:00 p.m. The purpose of the Hearing will be to receive public comment on the proposed Ordinance 987 which concerns itself with the City Code “Peddling and Soliciting Section 127.2 Licenses Required” A copy of proposed Ordinance 987 is available for review at City Hall.

Opera House Update: Construction and Renovations are progressing as scheduled.

The interior framing is 80% complete, and the duct work is 75% finished as is also the plumbing. Structural steel has been set in the existing facility. The masonry portion of the addition continues in earnest. Most of the interior fit-out color pallet has been decided, and the contractor remains optimistic for an early June completion.  Anticipated opening is spring 2017.  

City of Havre de Grace installs Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging Station.

CITY OF HAVRE DE GRACE INSTALLS ELE CTRIC VEHICLE (E V) CHARGING STATION.
The City of Havre de Grace has installed a level two CT 4000 ChargePoint Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging Station at David Craig Park. The dual powered station is capable of simultaneously charging two cars, costing green motorist $2.00 per hour.
The new charging station is part of a larger marketing strategy to promote tourism and environmentally friendly travel.
