August 20, 2018 Public Announcement: Environmental Improvement Project beginning the week of August 20, 2018 The Department of Public Works, in conjunction with the Maryland Department of Natural Resources, will begin a substantial water quality project at the corner of Concord and Lafayette Streets between the Concord Point Lighthouse and the Havre de Grace Maritime Museum. The contractor for the project, Underwood & Associates, will be working over the next several weeks to replace a stormwater outfall pipe from a street inlet with a series of step-pools, providing water quality benefits for stormwater runoff at this location. Funded by the Chesapeake & Atlantic Coastal Bays Trust Fund, the project will also include shoreline enhancement within the cove and at the point and offshore breakwater. Substantial native plant materials will be installed for beneficial habitat. Please excuse our construction and any disruption of the use of the Promenade during this project. The City is working to provide water quality improvements to our stormwater as required and desired for the health of the Chesapeake Bay.
