    On Sunday, February 25, 2018, Harford Magazine announced Mayor Martin won the category of Best Elected Official for 2017 Best of Harford Contest
    The Best of Harford Contest is sponsored by Harford Magazine. Category winners were selected by popular votes cast between September, 24 and November, 17, 2017. Over 12,000 people voted in the contest.
    “This is an extraordinary honor,” said Mayor Martin. “I would like to thank Harford County for bestowing me with this great honor. It gives me a tremendous source of pride knowing the public at large has confidence in the direction the City of Havre de Grace is headed.”
    Since taking office in 2015, Mayor Martin has been committed to building an inclusive and innovative 21st-century city. Accomplishments include several significant upgrades and investments, such as the installation of an event tent at Hutchins Park, downtown up lighting, an electric vehicle charging station, the expansion of Concord Point Park, major improvements to the war memorial and Tydings Park, transitioning all city owned buildings to solar power, and the fast tracking and completion of the Cultural Center at The Opera House which recently received a project excellence award from Maryland Historic Trust.
