Statement from Mayor William T. Martin regarding positive COVID-19 test. Havre de GraceStatement from Mayor William T. Martin regarding positive COVID-19 test. August 13, 2020 Last evening, Mayor Martin and a staff member from City Hall were notified that they had tested positive for COVID-19. This morning, the City quickly notified the Harford County Health Department and City staff, and began conducting contact tracing with employees to determine an appropriate course of action. Members of the staff whose interactions with the Mayor or the other team member meet CDC and Health Department definitions of a “contact” have been instructed to telework until August 25th. Statement from Mayor William T. Martin “My team has been working extremely hard since the beginning of the pandemic to protect our community’s health and the health of our city’s employees. Words cannot describe how proud I am of them. In March, my team developed a very detailed policy to be implemented in the event of a City staff member testing positive for COVID-19. This plan is now in place, which will ensure that your City government will continue to operate as usual. My own diagnosis reinforces the fact that COVID-19 is here in Havre de Grace. Even with the best precautions, we are all vulnerable to it. Please continue to be safe by wearing your masks, keeping social distance, washing your hands, and taking care of yourselves and the people around you.”
