As a homeowner and active volunteer in the community, Tammy Lynn Schneegas brings with her many years of experience serving the public.  In the past, she has volunteered 12 years with Girl Scouts, served as Author’s Festival Liaison, Kiwanis Club Member, and Key Club Sponsor.  She has served 2 years as the Green Team Food Pantry Liaison, 2 years with the Arts Commission, 1 year with Soroptimist International, volunteered with the Lock House, our local Oktoberfest, the Independence Day Commission, the Susquehanna River Running Festival, assisted with the Community Mural Projects, the Jazz and Blues Festival, has been involved with the Twinning Association, has adopted her block in service to Citizens Against Trash, and currently serves as First Vice President and Membership Chair for the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 47.

She has been an educator for 35 years and currently works with high school students with special needs Her educational background includes earning a Master’s Degree in Special Education from Northern University of Arizona, a Bachelor’s degree in English from California State University, Long Beach, and an Associates of Arts in Child Development from Orange Coast College. She currently holds several Maryland Teaching Certifications in Special Education, English, English for Second Language Learners, Elementary Education, Early Childhood Education, and Reading.

Since moving to our amazing little city in 2017, she married her husband in 2020 and blended their families together, which now includes 8 adult children and 7 grandchildren.  It is with gratitude that she has found such a thriving, vibrant, and friendly community to embrace as her home.  Her decision to run for City Council stemmed from interacting with many civic minded and environmentally conscious people.  Having the opportunity to live in many communities across the nation, she is confident that she brings a multi-faceted perspective toward serving the community and will be a voice for our citizens.

Her goal and vision as your elected council member is to provide SAFETY for All Citizens, SUPPORT of Community Education, Outdoor Recreation, Cultural Arts, Historic Preservation, and Economic Growth, and SUSTAINABILITY for the Present while working toward our Future.
