    Police Department 

     

    Back to School

     

    •  School begins on Tuesday, September 6, 2022, which means increased school busses, pedestrian foot traffic, and parents taking their children to school.

    •  Please pay attention to school buses that are stopped to pick up children.  Do not overtake and pass a school bus when its lights are activated.  This can result in you receiving a $570 fine and three (3) points on your driver’s license.

     

    We Are Hiring

     

    • If you are interested in pursuing a career in Law Enforcement, the Havre de Grace Police Department seeks folks who want to work in our great city with amazing people, serving our wonderful community.
    • We are looking for those of you with no law enforcement experience but who are willing to attend a Police Academy to become a certified police officer for the Havre de Grace Police Department.

    • We also have positions available for those currently certified police officers who want to lateral over to the Havre de Grace Police Department.

    • Likewise, for those who are not interested in becoming a police officer but want to help our community, we have positions available for Police Communications officers (PCO).

    Department of Public Works

    • Three bids were received for the Route 155 emergency roadwork repair due to a water main break on Superior St. We will work closely with the Maryland Department of Transportation to repatch the affected area shortly after Labor Day weekend.

    • The National Guard pumping station upgrade project is underway.

    • Routine water meter replacements will be ongoing throughout the City. The goal is to replace aging meters before the winter months.

    • Sign removal, relocation, and replacements are being conducted throughout the City, which aims to increase ease of use and efficiency.

    •  Congratulations to three Department of Public Works employees: Zac Patterson, Tony Cochran, and Kieran Dunn. These outstanding employees were formally recognized by Mayor Martin at the Employee of the Quarter ceremony this past Friday.

    Department of Planning 

    Upcoming meetings:

    • The Planning Commission will meet on September 26th at 6:30 pm.  The meeting will include a discussion of the City’s 2023 Comprehensive Plan.
