Historic Preservation – August 11

    Public Agenda: 

    1.  Welcome New Member, J Roger Lee
    2.   Nominate Member to fill Ron Browning’s unfinished term as Chair
    3.   Nominate Member to fill Vice-Chair position, currently unfilled
    4.   Nominate members for Secretary and Treasurer positions
    5.   Discuss status or Lafayette Trail Historic App, determine if ready to make presentation at an upcoming City Council Meeting  – date to be determined
    Guest: Shane Grimm,  Shane will help clarify some of the previous questions posed by the Commission such as
    1. Incentives to not have properties fail due to neglect.
    2. Certificate of appropriateness
    3. improved communication mechanism regarding status of abandoned houses and what can be done to encourage occupancy and or repair.
    4. Unoccupied houses – similar to above
    5. What is the city’s vision for Historic Preservation and how does that compare to that of the Commission.
    6. DPW connection costs for tear-downs vs incentives to fix up older. properties or offer incentives for Water and Sewer connections for fill in lots.
