Sanitary Sewage Overflow – June 5, 2024

    The Health Department was notified of a sanitary sewage overflow (SSO) that occurred from Wednesday, June 5, 2024, to Thursday, June 6, 2024 near 105 Lafayette Street due to the storm surge.  At approximately 4:00 a.m. on June 6th, the overflow was stopped and cleanup efforts were underway. The overflow released approximately 4,999 gallons of raw sewage into the Chesapeake Bay.  It is advised that no direct contact with the water in the Chesapeake Bay occur in the area of 105 Lafayette Street.  Signs have been posted.
