Weekly Briefing: Week of January 16, 2023

    Public Works:

    • DPW thanked Tim Whittie & the DPW Leadership team, who did an excellent job in his absence and rising to the occasion to take on new Leadership roles while others were out on vacation or sick.
    • The dual boat ramp has been completed. Underwood & Associates has begun working on the living shoreline near the boat ramp to address drainage issues in the area.
    • Honor Engineering Company is working with the VA at Perry Point, testing for leaks across the Susquehanna River, and notified the WTP to not be alarmed if they noticed streaks of green or blue food coloring in the water from Wednesday – Friday of this week. Please report any other water concerns to the Water Treatment Plant at 410-939-1070.
    • The sidewalk project on Juniata Street, near Harris Field, is nearing completion. There are approximately 300 feet of sidewalk placed. The City and its inspectors will ensure the ramps are ADA compliant, as the project looks forward to wrapping up near the end of this week, based on the weather and temperature.
    • Two DPW employees are certified in disaster preparedness in debris management from the Nationally recognized agency, FEMA. Great job to Roger Moyer and David “Shrek” Morrill, who were the only attendees in class from the State of Maryland.
